On May 27, 1993, the premier performance of a melodrama at the newly-constructed Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre was conducted. Located centrally inside Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, the melodrama "Curse You, Jack Dalton" was performed for a packed audience of specially invited guests.

In "Curse You, Jack Dalton" social mainstay Donna Dalton (Jennifer Walker) and evil Anna Alvarado (Cecilia Gibb) are plotting to have Anna marry Donna's son Jack.
 
After the inaugeral, two other plays, "He Ain't Done Right by Nell" and "Her Fatal Beauty" were performed in repertory with "Dalton" all summer.
